Coffee Growing Regions

The world's coffee growing regions reside primarily between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. By buying from every region, Teds Favorite Coffee can guarantee you'll find a taste to suit your palate.

Latin America & The Caribbean
South America produces much of the coffee consumed in the world. The coffee producing countries in South America are Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Mexico, El-Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Coffees from these areas are some of the sweetest and spiciest anywhere in the world, distinguished by their light body, simplicity and sharp acidity. They are typically thought of as having bright flavors with a clean, crisp finish. High altitude growing conditions combine with volcanic soil, temperate climate, sunny days and cool nights to produce beans of highly concentrated flavor.

Indonesia & New Guinea
The Dutch first brought arabica to their colony in Java, in what was then known as the Netherland Indies, in the mid-18th century. Cultivation proved so successful that "Java" became a synonym for all coffee. Today, Indonesia is the world's third largest producer of coffee. However, only 10% of the crop is arabica, and the number of quality beans available for the specialty coffee industry is limited. Even though they are a small percentage of total production, arabica coffees from this region are considered some of the best in the world and are prized for their richness, full body, long finish, earthiness and gentle acidity.

African & Arabian Peninsula
Coffees from this growing region are the most distinctive in the world, characterized by dry, winy acidity, chocolate and fruit undertones, rustic flavors and intense aromas. Ethiopia is the native land of coffee, and it was in Yemen that coffee was first cultivated and prepared.
